What’s the best way to promote a meme coin?

I recently created a meme coin on pump.fun and want to grow it organically without the pump and dump scheme. After creating it I immediately got contacted by numerous accounts asking for my telegram so they could help me pump the coin. Is this legit? Felt kind of shady. Do you guys have any other suggestions on what’s the best start to pump a coin is? Again I’m not aiming for a rug pull, just curious in how to grow it
