Rage comics began on 4chan in 2008 with Rageguy’s “FFFFFUUUU–” face venting toilet splashback frustration. Anonymous artist. Soon after, Troll emerged — drawn in MSPaint by Carlos Ramirez — to embody internet trolling. Troll is famous, but it only exists because of Rageguy. And, of course, rage comics were extremely popular on Reddit from 2009 through 2013. I used to post rage comics all the time. Rageguy appears to be following a similar pattern to Troll, with a strong community, a website and tons of memes. There’s a slight dip right now, but the organic grown has been unreal since Sept. 1.
