The revival of $Domo-kun has started

For those who don’t know Domo-Kun, i suggest a quick research on Youtube. There are tons of videos that tell his story. Some of you are maybe too young to remember Domo and some of you forgot him, i’m sure. Reddit and X are full of testimones of how much he was loved and how much he is recognized from the generations of 2000. You really can’t understand how big the Domo lore is, until you spend one day on all the socials looking for him.

Here on reddit you can find posts 5/7 years old, talking about the Domo era like the golden era of memes. Yes, because Domo it’s a pillar of the meme culture at the same level of Doge, Pepe and Troll.

What’s the difference then? Domo disappeared for years. He is still one of the most beloved japanese character, he is the mascot of the japanese tv, but for years he vanished. New generations don’t know Domo yet and can’t remember the early days of OG memes.

What’s the news? The news is that Striker Entertaiment, a big marketing company, is reviving Domo in North America this year. The news about the revival dates back to January 2025. Striker Entertainment, according to their website, is the company that pushed brands like The Walking Dead, Bladerunner, Five Nights at Freddy and more. If you scroll their clients you can find big names like Netflix.

So far we have seen the creation of new socials for Domo. Facebook almost 5M followers. IG 336k followers, growing 2k every day. (Domo_hq). IG is full of accounts dedicated to Domo, people who spend their time to post Domo in every situation of their life. Just because they love him.

But in the last days we are seeing more and more posts. Normies accounts with mid followers. And tons of accounts reposting and replying. The last one, yesterday, on X, compared Domo to Labubu. 5M views in one day. Scroll the replies and you will understand how big Domo is. I believe a sort of soft marketing has started in these days, with these posts, to bring back memories of the old generation and show to the world the power of Domo. Also to bring the attention on the imminent revival, still unknown to most.

Bring back to life Domo will be a slow process untill it will be time for a full force marketing. But i’m sure the result will be a total domonation. We are talking for sure about plushies and merch and clothes. But i think, based on the past, we will see new collabs and why not, movies and games.
