So I’ve been working on this Telegram bot project for myself over the past few months, and honestly, it’s turned into something way more useful than I initially expected. I wanted to share what I built and get some feedback from this community because I’m genuinely curious if other people would find this kind of tool valuable, or if I’m just overthinking my own trading research process.

The Problem I Was Trying To Solve Like many of you probably experience, I was spending way too much time scrolling through X (Twitter), jumping between different crypto news sites, checking CoinGecko, refreshing TradingView charts, and trying to piece together what was actually happening in the market. The information overload was real. I’d spend 30-45 minutes just trying to figure out which coins were getting attention, what the latest developments were, and whether the overall market sentiment was bullish or bearish. It was exhausting and honestly pretty inefficient, especially when you’re trying to catch opportunities early or just stay informed without it becoming a full-time job.

I kept thinking there had to be a better way to consolidate all this information into one place where I could quickly get the data I needed without the endless scrolling and tab-switching. That’s when I started exploring the LunarCrush API and realized it had pretty much everything I was manually searching for – social sentiment data, trending coins, market metrics, news feeds, and even AI-generated analysis.

What I Actually Built The core concept is pretty straightforward: a Telegram bot that acts as my personal crypto research assistant. I chose Telegram because I’m on it constantly anyway, and the bot interface with buttons makes it super intuitive to navigate. No need to open a browser or download a separate app – just open a chat and tap a few buttons.

Here’s how it works in practice. When I open the bot, I get a simple menu with category buttons – DeFi, AI coins, Gaming, Meme coins, and a few others. Let’s say I’m interested in what’s happening in the DeFi space. I just tap the DeFi button, and within a couple seconds, the bot returns a curated list of top DeFi coins based on LunarCrush’s AltRank scoring system. But it’s not just a list of names and prices – each coin comes with the latest news articles and developments specific to that token. So if there’s been a major partnership announcement, a protocol upgrade, or some controversy, I see it right there in context with the coin suggestion.

The AltRank scoring from LunarCrush is particularly useful because it combines social volume, market volume, and price performance relative to Bitcoin. It’s basically filtering out the noise and showing me which coins are actually gaining traction across multiple metrics, not just random pump-and-dumps that might be trending on X for a day.

Beyond the category-based coin suggestions, I also integrated an overall market sentiment feature. This pulls from recent crypto news across major publications and social media, then synthesizes it into a general market mood indicator. It’s helpful for getting a quick read on whether we’re in a risk-on or risk-off environment without having to manually scan through dozens of headlines. Sometimes I’ll check this first thing in the morning just to gauge the vibe before looking at specific coins.

The third major feature is what I’m calling the “coin AI analyst.” Basically, you can input any specific cryptocurrency ticker, and the bot will provide an AI-generated analysis of that coin’s recent performance, social sentiment trends, and notable developments. It’s like having a research assistant who’s already done the preliminary work of gathering and summarizing relevant information about a specific asset.

Why I Think This Might Be Useful For Others Originally this was 100% for my personal use. I built it to solve my own problem and streamline my own research process. But the more I’ve used it over the past few weeks, the more I’ve realized that the problems I was facing are probably pretty universal among crypto traders and investors, especially people who don’t have hours each day to dedicate to market research.

The feedback loop is just so much faster. Instead of spending 30-40 minutes gathering information across multiple platforms, I can get a comprehensive overview in literally 2-3 minutes. That time savings adds up significantly over the course of a week or month. And because the information is coming from LunarCrush’s aggregated data sources, it’s not just my own biases or the specific Twitter accounts I follow – it’s a broader view of what’s actually trending and developing in the market.

I’m also thinking this could be valuable for people who are newer to crypto and find the information landscape completely overwhelming. Having a single, simplified interface that presents curated information based on proven metrics (like AltRank) could lower the barrier to staying informed without requiring you to already know which websites to visit, which Twitter accounts to follow, or how to interpret complex market data.

Where I’m At Now And Why I’m Posting Here’s the thing – I’m genuinely not sure if this is something that would be useful to a wider audience, or if I’ve just built a very personalized tool that happens to fit my specific workflow perfectly. I’ve been using it daily for a few weeks now and it’s become pretty essential to my routine, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it translates to other people’s needs or preferences.

That’s why I’m posting here. I’m looking for honest feedback from people who are actively trading or investing in crypto. Would a tool like this actually save you time and improve your research process? Or are you perfectly happy with your current methods and wouldn’t see the point? I’m also a bit hesitant because I don’t want to come across as trying to sell something or hype up a product. This literally started as a personal project that I built for myself, and I’m still figuring out whether it makes sense to share it more widely or if I should just keep using it myself.

If anyone’s interested in testing it out and giving me some honest feedback, feel free to DM me and I can share the bot link privately. I’d really appreciate any thoughts on whether this is actually solving a real problem or if I’m just overcomplicating things for myself.
