Spark has initiated the distribution of its native token, SPK, through a two-phase process currently in effect. The first phase, called Ignition, enables users to claim tokens if they meet eligibility criteria based on historical activity across specific protocols and networks.
The full list of supported platforms includes Sky, Pendle, Morpho, Arbitrum, Aave, Fluid, Curve Finance, Lido Finance, Base, Polygon, Gnosis, Optimism, and Ethena Labs.
Users who qualify for Ignition can claim their allocated SPK tokens directly. This phase serves as the initial stage of distribution and is intended to reach contributors from across Spark’s broader ecosystem. Eligibility was determined by reviewing usage data across the listed networks and applications.
The second phase, called Overdrive, is open to those who choose to stake their SPK. It distributes tokens that were not claimed during Ignition. Participation in Overdrive requires staking through Symbiotic, which handles both the technical staking process and the reward distribution. Over 60 million SPK tokens have already been staked since the launch of this phase.
This two-phase model creates a structured way to distribute SPK. Ignition allows for direct claiming based on predefined criteria, while Overdrive offers a follow-up opportunity for users to receive a share of unclaimed tokens in return for staking. Both phases are active at the time of writing.
