How I Deal With FOMO and the $YZY Moment That Tested Me

FOMO has been one of the hardest things for me to deal with in trading. That feeling when a token starts running and you think if you don’t buy right away, you are going to miss the whole move. I have been there plenty of times. Sometimes I got lucky and caught more upside, but most times I ended up late, stuck holding higher than I wanted.

For me, FOMO is not really about the charts. It is more about the mind. Seeing others post wins, watching screenshots fly around, or even just a sudden listing, it builds pressure. But whenever I act on that pressure, it usually does not feel like a real decision, more like chasing someone else’s timing.

A perfect example happened recently with $YZY. Out of nowhere, someone fat fingered a huge $767K buy, and the surge was so wild that bitget onchain rushed to list it. Some even said it could be Kanye’s coin since he is following the socials. At that moment, I almost FOMOed hard, but I caught myself, waited for things to cool down, and only then took a small position. That pause made all the difference.

What I have started doing is slowing down and asking myself if I would still buy this if nobody else was talking about it. If the answer is no, then it is probably not the trade for me. It does not always stop the urge, but it helps me put things in perspective.

FOMO will always be there, but the way I see it now, the goal is not to avoid it completely, it is to control how much power it has over my trades.
