Solana Memecoins

I created a crypto mini cartoon called “Degenz”. Season One is currently rolling out.

What was my motivation?

I often stumble upon new channels creating crypto content, but 99% of those are “educational” (they review hard- or software of partnered projects) or give market outlooks. To me this was always a bit uninteresting, because it failed to entertain me most of the time. The other 1% of channels just recycle already known crypto memes. After some time, that runs dry, even though some of those I found genuinely funny. I am not claiming here that I am the funny guy with the funnier channel. Humor is subjective, and you could totally say “man, that show is lame af” and that is totally fine.

But that is not my only motivation. I have encountered the opinion a number of times since I am in the space, that to get more adoption of crypto in the broader public, you need to educate people. However, for me this misses one step: You need to create interest in the topic first. For example, had ten people come to me in the past 20 years to educate me on physics, I would have likely fallen asleep. But watching The Big Bang Theory has lead to me being interested in that topic at least partially. So in one sentence: To get people, you have to entertain them and not force uninteresting stuff down their throat. I love crypto for way more than just the opportunity to make money. The creativity people showcased and the completely open/gloves off humor is really a subculture on its own.

Why this format?

The obvious thing first: I am far far away from being a pro in animation. Also the hardware side of the production is limited on my side. So I had to keep it simple and short to not over-invest in it without knowing if people would like it. Also i think the low key style of the animation resonates well with degens.

The other reason is that producing long episodes like traditional cartoons would take much longer and would take away the ability to make a quick episode about a recent event for example. Producing an episode over two months for example bears the risk of the topic the episode is about having already become irrelevant, which is especially true for crypto, where narratives and trends change quickly.

Last but not least: Attention spans of people are becoming shorter and shorter. Shorter videos are in demand right now. I do not know about you guys, but I recognize it in myself as well. I sometimes turn off a Rick and Morty Episode or do not even start watching it, because 25 mins can feel like a commitment, yet still I catch myself watching interesting scenes from the show on youtube.

Would love to get your feedback and also I am always open for new storyline ideas.

For Season One I am aiming for eight episodes, the major storyline being almost finished. My idea is to publish one episode per week.
