This morning I launched my first ever token on Pump.fun with genuine excitement.
I bought 0.61 SOL during the fair launch, created a Telegram group, a Twitter account, made some graphics, picked the name (BRRP Coin), and was ready to build something cool.
As the community started to grow, the second-largest buyer suggested using a Telegram bot called CherryBumpsBot. It supposedly performs automatic micro-buys to boost your token’s visibility on Pump.fun.
I’d never heard of these bots before, but I was excited and wanted the token to do well, so I went for it.
I sent 0.54 SOL to the bot. It replied with “Payment received”… and then absolutely nothing. No bumps, no activity. It also gave me a private key — for a completely unrelated wallet, obviously empty.
Right after that, the same person who suggested the bot dumped their tokens, draining the liquidity. I was left holding the bag with a dead chart and 1.15 SOL lost.
All of this happened in just a few hours.
⚠️ Lesson Learned
Even if you’re excited, don’t make decisions blindly — especially when money’s involved. Just because someone seems friendly or helpful doesn’t mean they are. If you don’t understand something, stop and ask. Research. Don’t pay unknown bots hoping for magic.
I lost over $200 today, but hopefully this story saves someone else from doing the same.
RIP BRRP Coin 🪦
P.S.:
Here’s the link in case anyone’s curious to see my failed project on Pump.fun — but please don’t buy, the project is already over:
