Can meme coins on Solana succeed if they aim for real-world utility?

I’ve been following the meme coin wave on Solana for a while. Most projects are hype-driven, but I recently came across Gangster Pepe Pay (GPEPAY), which caught my attention because it’s trying something different – positioning itself as a payment method for shops and online businesses, while still keeping the meme culture alive.

It made me think: do meme coins have a better chance of surviving long-term if they actually build real-world use cases like payments, or does that kill the fun vibe that makes memes coins popular in the first place?
