Hey everyone,
I’ve been building on Solana for a while and kept hitting the same annoying issue: losing SOL to failed program deployments or upgrades. A lot of SOL just sits locked in buffer accounts, upgradeable program data accounts, or other artifacts, basically “ghost” accounts holding your rent deposits hostage.
After dealing with this one too many times, I decided to build a tool to fix it.
It’s called WhereIsSol, and here’s what it does:
- Scans your wallet for recoverable SOL from:
- Failed program deployments (buffer accounts)
- Upgradeable programs you can close
- Orphaned or forgotten rent-paying accounts
- Lets you recover the SOL with one click
- You keep 90% of what’s recovered, and there’s no fee unless it works
- Works on both mainnet and devnet
- Fully non-custodial – you just sign the transactions, no private keys involved
I used it to recover 4.2 SOL from some old failed deployments I had totally forgotten about.
There’s also a referral system if you want to share it with others and earn a small commission from successful recoveries.
If you’ve ever lost SOL in failed program deployments or seen weird missing balances after upgrading a contract, this tool will probably help.
Just wanted to share it here for anyone who’s dealt with this frustration.
Would love to hear if others have had similar issues and what tools (if any) you’ve used to clean up stuck rent deposits or old programs.
Cheers
