Spark’s Native Token SPK Officially Launches

Spark has launched its native token, SPK, along with the first phase of the Ignition Airdrop. This provides a way for users to participate in protocol governance and earn rewards by staking SPK.

A total of 10 billion SPK tokens were created at genesis. These tokens will be distributed over a ten-year period according to a predefined allocation structure outlined in Spark’s governance framework.

Token Allocation

• 65% (6.5 billion SPK) is allocated to Sky, a distribution mechanism for users.
• 23% (2.3 billion SPK) is allocated to the ecosystem to support growth.
• 12% (1.2 billion SPK) is allocated to Spark’s contributors.

Sky Distribution (65%)

The 6.5 billion SPK allocated to Sky will be distributed over ten years through a scheduled farming mechanism. The distribution rate will decrease over time as follows:

• Years 1–2: 1.625 billion SPK per year
• Years 3–4: 812.5 million SPK per year
• Years 5–6: 406.25 million SPK per year
• Years 7–10: 203.13 million SPK per year

Sky farms are not yet live.

Ecosystem Allocation (23%)

2.3 billion SPK is reserved for ecosystem-related uses, including protocol expansion and community support. Seventeen percent of this allocation is available at launch, with the remainder unlocking after one year. A portion of this allocation is being used for the Ignition Airdrop.

Contributor Allocation (12%)

1.2 billion SPK is allocated to Spark contributors. These tokens follow a vesting schedule: 25% unlocks after a 12-month cliff, and the remaining 75% vests gradually over the following three years.

Ignition Airdrop

The Ignition Airdrop is currently active. Eligible participants can claim SPK tokens until July 22 at 2 PM UTC. Claimed tokens can also be staked with Overdrive to earn additional rewards.
