Hege – The Un-Ruggable Coin

My experience of being a part of the ‘Hege’ community.

I want to start by saying I’m not part of the Hege team, I’m just someone who found this coin a number of months ago (over a year in fact), and over time have developed more and more belief.

BACKGROUND TO MEMECOINS

I’m a crypto veteran, having been involved in crypto since 2015, and having witnessed the many comings and goings of trends or “metas”. Previously, altcoins would try to sell you on their superior technology or so-called fundamentals. They would claim that their coin/token would provide some kind of mechanism that had direct, real-world usage that would eventually become “the future”. While not entirely untrue, the reality of most altcoins is that they are speculative vehicles, driven by the hype behind expectations of real-world application that often fizzles out when either the technology takes longer to develop or to integrate into reality than expected.

Enter memecoins. The trailblazing memecoin being Doge, established as a joke, but gaining much traction, and rivalling even the top altcoins by market cap.

Memecoins were traditionally regarded as ridiculous or a scam by crypto-purists, including myself at one time. This is because they have no concrete or immediately obvious real-world application. However if we link back to the reality of many/most altcoins, there isn’t much value being provided anyway.

What memecoins do provide is community. A chance to be part of something bigger than yourself.

WHY HEGE IS DIFFERENT

Despite the promise of memecoins to deliver an experience distinct from other “alt-coins”, the vast majority of said coins are either scams or rug pulls. And much of the ones that aren’t, are nonetheless thoughtless derivatives of popular coins, or otherwise lack originality ,leadership and ambition.

From the outset, Hege has demonstrated every quality needed for a coin to flourish and reach the upper echelons of the meme space. One of these aspects is a solid brand that looks the part. When you see Hege is gives the impression of a brand that would fit into the top 10 memes. It has that originality factor.

One of the most important aspects, and one which I believe has shaped the trajectory of Hege, is Dev’s commitment and attitude towards Hege. It’s exceedingly rare for a Dev to still be around over a year after the launch of a coin. Not only is Dev still here, he’s injected thousands of his own money to keep Hege going and help propel it to the next level. This has not gone unnoticed by the community, and has helped to foster an environment of complete commitment and belief from the community, with many individuals pitching in to help run Hege, people who receive no formal compensation for doing so.

There are many other aspects that make Hege an extremely smart investment for one looking to get into memecoins, or who has been disappointed with other memes so far, but in an effort to try and not make this post too long, I will leave it here.
